Nashville, Tenn. – Critically-acclaimed band The Barefoot Movement are excited to announce the release of their new single, “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” which is out today via Bonfire Music Group. It’s part of their Covers For A Cause, which was created to benefit the non-profit Soles4Souls. The objective is to help deliver clothing and shoes to underprivileged people throughout the United States and worldwide. All proceeds for this new song will go towards that effort. The new recording is available for download and/or streaming HERE.
With the new “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” the group showcase their must-hear harmony vocals. In this case, they put an interesting Acoustic spin on the famous track which was originally recorded and released by Rock band Blue Öyster Cult. They also have a special surprise, with world-renowned instrumentalist Dave Eggar joining the band on cello. Over the years the song has been covered by a variety of different artists, while also having a huge resurgence following a Saturday Night Live skit featuring Will Ferrell in the early 2000s alongside his cowbell.
This is the latest installment from Covers For A Cause. As part of the fundraiser, a new single will be unveiled every four weeks. The previous releases were their version of the Beatles’ “Here Comes The Sun,” a special recording of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Lodi,” along with a beautiful Roots version of Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind.” In addition to proceeds from the single going to the charity, fans can also make direct donations to Soles4Souls, and learn more about the mission HERE.
