The new single from the project is a stripped-down acoustic interpretation of Phil Collins’ classic “Take Me Home.” Reimagined through a Bluegrass lens, the duo breathes new life into the familiar melody, with Lane’s evocative vocals and Bennett’s one-of-a-kind guitar work bringing emotional depth and authenticity. The album also features five original tracks co-written by Lane and Bennett, including the atmospheric opener “1682,” the reflective “Mountains and Miles” and the moody “Street Light.” Instrumental contributions come from Lane (guitar, lead vocals), Bennett (guitar), Grayson Lane (mandolin, harmony vocals) and Jacob McFadyen (bass). Engineering, mixing, and mastering were handled by Steve Wilson.
Shawn Lane is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated group Blue Highway and a 28-time IBMA Award winner. Richard Bennett is a longtime Bluegrass veteran known for his work with JD Crowe and the New South. Together, they’ve created a sound that blends traditional Bluegrass roots with contemporary acoustic sensibilities. 1682 marks the latest step in their collaborative journey, delivering a warm, organic project that invites listeners to slow down and savor each moment.
